(HURON COUNTY) — North Huron Schools had 18 tractors parked in the school parking lot Wednesday for “Drive Your Tractor to School Day.” The event is held the Wednesday of Senior week, although some tractors didn’t make it to school because they were still out in the fields. It offers students that have a driver’s license the opportunity to drive a tractor to school in place of their vehicles. Students get donuts and chocolate milk upon arriving early to school and have opportunities to take pictures with their tractors. Students and community members then get a chance to check out the equipment. North Huron Agriscience teacher and FFA Advisor Joe Ankley says the event is a great way to show the deep agricultural roots of the community and highlight the fact that many families in the North Huron community are somehow involved in agriculture.
