Yale taps new Superintendent; Nicholl retires

(ST. CLAIR COUNTY) – The Yale Public School district has a new Superintendent, following a search that drew interest from 20 potential candidates.

The school board interviewed two finalist for the top position before choosing Armada Elementary Principal Kurt Sutton who will replace retiring Superintendent Ken Nicholl.

Nicholl served the district as Superintendent for 11 years, the third longest tenure for a Yale Superintendent behind Al Kimmel (12 years) and Ralph Darin who served as the top school administrator for 13 years.

Sutton, a former educator in the Richmond school system, has experience in working with bond issues, sinking funds and negotiations with various employee groups.

He will begin his duties as Yale’s new Superintendent following the completion of this school year.
