(SANILAC COUNTY) – Nearly 45 miles of roads in Sanilac County will see resurfacing projects as Road Commission officials do their best to spread the road millage funding across the county.
Commission members recently gave approval for nine projects in the county this summer, totaling more than four million dollars.
The work is being done despite a two-year shortfall of around $1.3 million dollars in Michigan Transportation Funds.
One of the largest projects of nine will be the paving of North Sandusky Road in Custer Township from the city limits to Deckerville Road in southern Wheatland Township.
Another six miles of Frenchline Road will be resurfaced from Juhl Road to M-19 while an eight mile stretch of Bay City-Forestville Road from M-53 to M-19 is also scheduled for resurfacing.
Road crews are asking for motorist to drive safely and show patience when driving through work zones.
Funding comes from a county-passed millage, Michigan Transportation Funds and federal dollars.
