(SANILAC COUNTY) – Two people were arrested as a result of an investigation in to the sales/and or distribution of narcotics in Sanilac County.
According to Sanilac County Drug Task Force Director Jim Johnson, DTF agents conducted a traffic stop within the Village of Carsonville on February 23rd.
Johnson said the traffic stop was part of an ongoing investigation into the distribution of methamphetamine in Sanilac County and led to two parolees of the Michigan Department of Corrections being arrested on new drug charges.
During the traffic stop, a quantity of methamphetamine with a street value over $12,000 and paraphernalia consistent with the distribution of methamphetamine were located and seized.
As part of the investigation a search of a residence in the Village of Carsonville was also conducted, locating additional evidence consistent with drug sales.
Johnson said DTF agents arrested a 37-year old Port Huron woman and a 34-year old Carsonville man, with both being lodged in the Sanilac County jail.
Both suspects are expected to be arraigned on multiple drug charges along with weapons and traffic related charges.
The Sanilac County Drug Task Force, with their K-9 unit, was assisted by the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office and Michigan Department of Corrections.
