A tanker-truck hauling 12,000 gallons of milk rolled over this morning after clipping a passenger vehicle while driving west on M-81.
The accident happened close to Graf Road in Indianfields Township after the tanker attempted to leave the roadway on the right side to avoid the 2011 Lincoln SUV in front of him as it was making a left-hand turn. Instead, the 65-year-old Harbor Beach man driving the tanker clipped the SUV, leaving to and re-entering the roadway from the right before overturning.
Despite spilling all 12,000 gallons of Rathmourne Dairy’s product, the truck driver only sustained minor injuries, while the SUV’s driver, a 59-year-old woman from Caro, was uninjured. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident, and investigators are still working, so details are subject to change.
The Tuscola County Sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by the Caro Fire Department, Mike’s Wrecker and Bullet Towing.
