A carjacking that started in Oakland County Monday morning came to an end in Sanilac County, according to Michigan State Police.
The department revealed via Twitter that the incident started shortly before 8:00 a.m. on February 27, when a 78-year-old man visited a Mobil Gas Station in Holly, Michigan, stepping inside for a moment before returning and finding the suspect in the car’s backseat, claiming to have a gun.
The suspect told the man to drive, with the man driving back to his home, where the suspect had the man get out and give him the keys before fleeing in the car.
Once the vehicle was identified, efforts were taken to disable it, with it finally stopping near 1st Street in Brown City. Troopers and local officers approached the man as he was returning to the vehicle, with a Sanilac County Deputy ultimately deploying his Taser when the suspect resisted arrest.
No firearm was found on the suspect or in the car, with the case due for prosecutor review and suspect identification.
