Several injured during Saturday evening two-vehicle crash in Marlette Twp

A Saturday evening crash in Marlette Township almost a week ago left several injured, according to the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office.

On Saturday, June 10, around 5:40 p.m., Sanilac County Central Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call reporting a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Decker Road and French Line Road in Marlette Twp.

Deputy’s initial investigation determined that a 2007 Chevrolet Bus driven by a 39-year-old Sandusky man was eastbound on French Line Road and failed to stop at the stop sign. As the 2007 Chevrolet bus entered the intersection it struck a 2000 Chevrolet S-10 driven by a 17-year old Marlette girl that was south bound on Decker Road. After the collision, both vehicles came to rest in the southeast ditch.

The 17-year-old girl had to be extricated from her vehicle by Marlette Fire and was transported from the scene to St. Mary’s Hospital by Sanilac EMS for life threatening injuries. The 39-year-old Sandusky man and his 36-year-old female passenger were transported to Marlette Regional Hospital by Marlette EMS for serious injuries. They were later transferred to out of the area hospitals for further treatment. Six minor children also involved in the crash were transported to McKenzie Hospital for minor injuries.

Deputies were assisted on scene by Marlette EMS, Sanilac EMS, Flight Care, Marlette Fire Department and the Sanilac County Road Commission. The crash remains under investigation by the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office.
