The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office reports that a collision in Kimball Township between a dirt bike and a van sent two people to the hospital on July 4th.
The crash occurred shortly before 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, near the intersection of Wadhams and Dove Roads. A 2019 Yamaha YZ450 dirt bike was headed west on Dove Road, being driven by a 26-year-old Richmond man, when the driver passed a stop sign, colliding into the side of another vehicle in the Wadhams intersection.
The other vehicle, a 2022 Mercedes Benz Sprinter, was being driven south by a 25-year-old resident from Kimball Township, who attempted to stop the van after the collision, but instead continued through the intersection before rolling over into the east ditch and onto the van’s roof.
The van driver was taken to McLaren Port Huron, whereas the Richmond man was first taken to Lake Huron Medical Center before being airlifted to McLaren Macomb Hospital. He is reportedly in critical condition.
Wadhams Road was shut down for several hours during the investigation. It is not believed that alcohol was a factor. The St. Clair County Accident Investigation Team is continuing the investigation.
The names of those involved are being held at this time pending further notification of family.
