CHARLOTTE, Mich. (AP) – A Charlotte business has found a niche producing high-quality reproductions of Civil War uniforms. The Lansing State Journal reports that Dan Wambaugh and Brian White started Wambaugh, White & Co. stressing historical authenticity. They spend hours a day in their workshop working with fabric crafted to match the wool and cotton used for Confederate and Union clothing worn during the Civil War. The uniforms sell for $200 to $450 and often are purchased by re-enactors. Their uniforms also are displayed at U.S. Army War College in Pennsylvania. Several of their uniforms were used in the 2013 film “Beautiful Creatures.” The 33-year-old Wambaugh and 34-year-old White have a four-month waiting list for orders. Until about three years ago, they operated out of Wambaugh’s home. They moved to downtown Charlotte two years ago.
