TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (AP) – A northern Michigan winemaker has developed a device that dispenses wine by the glass from a refrigerated bag while preserving it for up to six months. The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports that Ed O’Keefe Jr.’s venture, ePour Technologies Inc., this month launched the ePour system. It is designed to help restaurants and other businesses serve quality wine and maximize profit by preventing unnecessary loss of product. O’Keefe is founder and CEO of Chateau Grand Traverse on Old Mission Peninsula. He says the wine industry has been moving toward putting wines in boxes or plastic pouches to maximize profits. The machine that became available this month can dispense two different wines. The company next year will introduce a machine that will hold four bags of wine. The machines are being test marketed in Maryland and Colorado.
