President of United Health Services in Caro arrested on health care fraud charges

(CARO) — The president of United Health Services in Caro has been arrested on charges of health care fraud, insurance fraud, and false pretenses. Michigan State Police Troopers from the Caro Post say auditors and investigators from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan uncovered suspicious activity and billing from 49-year old Robert John Daniels of Caro. Detectives with the State Police expanded the investigation in 2014 and over $1 million in fraudulent claims against Blue Cross Blue Shield were discovered over several years. Daniels was arraigned on 12 counts of false pretenses over $100,000, two counts of health care fraud, and a count of insurance fraud in Tuscola County District Court. He was released from the Tuscola County jail on a $100,000 PR bond. If convicted, Daniels faces up to 20-years in prison on the felony charges.
