(CUSTER TOWNSHIP) — Sanilac County Sheriff’s deputies investigated a one-vehicle accident that happened Friday evening on Gates Road near Eddy Road in Custer Township. The mishap occurred when a vehicle driven by 18-year old Jarich Bowers of Marlette was traveling north on Gates Road and following another vehicle. As Bowers attempted to pass the vehicle, he lost control due to road conditions and entered the west ditch. The vehicle then overturned, coming to rest on its wheels in the ditch. Bowers and his 18-year old passenger, Christian Gaudiloo of Marlette, were taken to McKenzie Health System in Sandusky for treatment of their injuries. Both were wearing their seat belts and alcohol does not appear to be a factor. Sheriff’s deputies were assisted by State Police from the Caro Post, the Sandusky Fire Departtment, and Sanilac EMS.
