(HURON COUNTY) — Huron County Sheriff Kelly Hanson says that local families wishing to remain anonymous have once again come forward with money and have asked the Sheriff’s Department to distribute the cheer to individuals or families in need this holiday season. Last year, five families in Huron County dropped off a total of $5,000. So far this year, seven families have dropped off a combined $4,400. Area law enforcement agencies, clergy, school officials, and community leaders are helping deputies determine who is truly in need and in the next couple of days, Christmas cards containing a $100 bill or gift certificate will be delivered. Sheriff Hanson extends his sincere thanks to those who have stepped forward to make this Christmas extra special for several local families and to those that have donated toys or money to the “Toys for Tots” campaign.
