Missing boy in Juniata Township found

(JUNIATA TWP) — The Tuscola County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a missing three-year-old boy Tuesday afternoon in Tuscola County’s Juniata Township. Deputies, along with two Michigan State Police tracking dogs, a state police helicopter, and the Tuscola County Citizen Emergency Response team, arrived at the residence on Rowland Road shortly after 12:45 p.m. The boy’s grandmother had been watching the child for the day when he was outside playing with a stray dog that had wandered onto the property. When the grandmother went outside to give the boy a coat, the dog and child were both gone. Ground and air searches were conducted and the Child is Missing program put out an area phone alert for the missing three-year-old. Shortly after 3:00 p.m., the state police helicopter spotted the child with the stray dog about a half mile away from the house. He was cold and shivering, but otherwise unharmed. Also assisting in the search were the Mayville and Vassar fire departments.
