(SANILAC COUNTY) — The Sanilac County Drug Task Force conducted several raids last week resulting in arrests and the seizure of illegal drugs. The first raid took place on Saturday, January 9 at a home in the 250 block of Croswell Road in Croswell, shortly after midnight. Officers seized packets of pre-packaged “field tested” cocaine, two long guns, a safe, drug paraphernalia, and over $800 in cash. A 71-year old man was arrested and released pending a lab analysis of the drugs. On Monday, January 11, Drug Task Force officers assisted the Sandusky Police Department on a suspected heroin overdose death at an apartment on S. Morse Street in Sandusky. Officers recovered suspected heroin, prescription medications, marijuana, and other drug paraphernalia that may have been involved in the death of a 36-year old Deckerville man. The apartment is rented by a 47-year old man who was arrested and charged with possession of heroin and maintaining a drug house. The death investigation is ongoing. During the evening hours Saturday, January 16, Sanilac County Drug Task Force officers were assisted by sheriff’s deputies and the St. Clair County Sheriff’s K-9 during a traffic stop in Marion Township. Along with “field tested” cocaine, heroin, and marijuana, officers seized a 2006 SUV and over $750 in cash. The stop lead to a search warrant at a residence in the 7100 block of Maple Grove Road in Delaware Township. During the raid, marijuana, illegal prescription pills, suspected ecstasy, cocaine, packaging materials and over $1,500 in cash was seized. The 43-year old driver was arrested and released pending lab analysis of the drugs.
