Hundreds of tow truck drivers honor Michigan man at funeral

(PORT HURON TOWNSHIP) — A funeral service has been held for a St. Clair County tow truck operator who was fatally struck by a vehicle while pulling another vehicle out of a ditch. Hundreds of tow truck drivers and emergency personnel gathered with the family and friends of 28-year-old Jason Schultz at Ross Bible Church in Port Huron Township Wednesday morning. The tow trucks came from all over Michigan and from as far away as Indiana and Canada for the service. The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office says Schultz was killed Friday when an 18-year-old Fort Gratiot man drove onto the shoulder of North Road between Krafft and Keewahdin, around the tow truck, and hit Schultz, the tow cable and the vehicle in the ditch. An investigation into the fatal accident is ongoing.
