(SANILAC COUNTY) — A 39-year old Deckerville man was arrested late Friday following a single-vehicle crash in Sanilac County’s Bridgehampton Township. A passing motorist called 9-1-1 around 11:30 p.m., stating that there was a vehicle in the ditch on Hunt Road, just north of M-46, and that a man was lying in the roadway. The motorist attempted to make contact with the victim, who then took off on foot and fled into nearby fields. Sheriff’s deputies and K-9 Baki responded and started tracking the subject, successfully locating the man hiding in a tall weeded area in a nearby field. The Deckerville man was arrested on charges of operating under the influence-third offense and for several other outstanding warrants. Sanilac EMS, Carsonville Fire, and Sandusky Police assisted deputies at the scene.
