HURON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) – A failed $50 million horse racing track in suburban Detroit is being demolished. The Detroit Free Press reports the abandoned Pinnacle Race Course in Wayne County’s Huron Township, which opened in 2008 and closed in 2010, had its main pavilion ripped apart Monday by excavating equipment. The demolition followed an agreement last year between the property’s owner and the administration of County Executive Warren Evans to clean up and clear out the 320-acre site. An online real estate listing shows the property for sale with an $8 million asking price. The county says the property has an unpaid tax bill of at least $2.3 million. Wayne County spokesman Ryan Bridges says the demolition is being undertaken and financed by Post It Stables, the track’s corporate entity.
