Bomb threat reported at Laker High School Friday; building cleared by authorities

(ELKTON) — Students and staff were evacuated from Laker High School to an adjacent school Friday afternoon after a student found a message in a bathroom stall claiming that a bomb was set to explode. According to Huron County Sheriff Kelly Hanson, the student immediately reported the message to school staff and Superintendent Brian Keim ordered the evacuation. The Sanilac County Sheriff Department bomb sniffing dog was called in and a search of the premises was conducted. At about 4:40 p.m. on Friday, the building and adjacent parking lot was was determined to be clear and the search was suspended. Police and school officials are asking that anyone with information about the incident contact the Huron County Sheriff Department.
