(TUSCOLA COUNTY) — A 28-year old Tuscola County man has been arraigned on several drug-related charges stemming from the death of a Unionville woman. Authorities say Caleb William Hills was charged with delivery of a controlled substance causing death, possession with intent to deliver heroin less than 50 grams, conspiracy possession with intent to deliver heroin less than 50 grams, and possession of heroin less than 25 grams. The charges stem from the death of 29-year old Amanda Byrd in the village of Reese back in November 2015. Hills arrest was the result of a lengthy investigation involving the Michigan State Police, Tuscola County Sheriff’s Department, and the Thumb Narcotics Unit. Bond was set at $350,000 cash or surety. If convicted, Hills faces up to life in prison. His next court date has been scheduled for Monday, February 22 at 8:15 a.m. for a probable cause hearing.
