PORT HURON, Mich. (AP) – The Michigan Department of Transportation is hosting three public hearings to discuss a proposed currency parity policy for the Blue Water Bridge. The policy would adjust the toll rate for customers traveling eastbound from the U.S. side into Canada when paying with Canadian currency. If approved, the policy would go into place in April, with reviews of the exchange rate taking place on a regular basis. Hearings are Wednesday in Lansing and Thursday in Port Huron. There’s also one Thursday in Point Edward, Ontario. Currency parity policies are in place at other border crossings in Michigan with Canada, including the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit and the International Bridge in Sault Ste. Marie. Details about the proposed Blue Water Bridge changes and this week’s meetings are posted online.
