DNR seeks input on plans for state game areas in Thumb area

(AREA) — State game area managers with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources are seeking public input on several draft master plans for state game areas located in the Thumb. Tim Payne, Supervisor for the DNR Wildlife Division’s southeastern region, stresses the important role these master plans play in guiding habitat management, based on both the featured species selected for management at each state game area and use of the areas for recreation such as hunting and wildlife viewing. Draft master plans for the Verona State Game Area in Huron County, Tuscola State Game Area and Deford State Game Area in Tuscola County, and the Minden State Game Area in Sanilac County are available online. The plans will be available for review through April 25. The final master plans will be made available on the DNR website by June 1.
