Las Vegas has loved Elvis Presley true, but less so lately

LAS VEGAS (AP) – For decades, Las Vegas has loved Elvis Presley tender – and loved him true – but the King’s presence in modern day Sin City has lately been diminishing, one impersonator at a time. A much-hyped casino attraction saddled by low attendance closed suddenly last month, as other Elvis-themed shows, exhibits and wedding appearances have also faded away. A generational divide, oversaturation of kitsch and changing Las Vegas entertainment landscape may be to blame. The official Elvis estate and business acknowledges that Vegas has been a challenging market, but says the brand is still thriving elsewhere and in other ventures. Elvis Presley Enterprises said its business deals are successful, particularly at the Graceland mansion in Memphis, Tennessee and overseas.
