BAY CITY, Mich. (AP) – Plans call for transforming an elementary school in Bay City that was closed a decade ago into an assisted living home. The Bay City Times reports $1.5 million could be spent on the project to create a new use for Bay City Riegel Elementary School. Renovation could be completed by the fall. The facility would have 32 private bedrooms and bathrooms as well as a dining room and kitchen. Other features would include a library, a private dining room, a store for residents and a conference room. The building was purchased by Double J Properties in November. The former school was built in 1970, closed in 2005 and has been used for storage.
