COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Former Michigan football coach Lloyd Carr is slated to be at the Ohio Statehouse for a legislative hearing on a bill aimed at raising awareness about the rare pediatric brain cancer that afflicted his late grandson. Five-year-old Chad Carr died Nov. 23 and was honored with a moment of silence when Michigan played rival Ohio State later that week. The boy’s mother, Tammi, is scheduled to testify Wednesday before the House Health and Aging Committee in support of the awareness bill. It would designate Chad’s birthday, Sept. 26, as Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma Awareness Day in Ohio. The measure is sponsored by Republican Rep. Dorothy Pelanda, of Marysville. Her office says the former Wolverines coach is among several Carr family members expected to be at the committee’s hearing.
