Cosby spends millions as lawsuits, criminal case rage on

PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Bill Cosby is spending millions fighting criminal and civil cases around the country in a frenzied bid not just to stay out of prison but to salvage what’s left of his reputation. The comedian has two dozen lawyers around the country contending with defamation claims, sexual assault charges and insurance disputes. Legal experts say he has nothing to lose, given his fall from grace and the suburban Philadelphia criminal case that could send the 78-year-old TV star to prison for 10 years. He is due in court Tuesday for a preliminary hearing in the criminal case. He is hoping to get the charges thrown out because of what he says is a non-prosecution deal with a district attorney a decade ago.
