(PORT HURON) — A roughly $500,000 overhaul of Lakeside Park in Port Huron includes a new splash pad, restroom and concessions building. Other improvements to the park at the southern tip of Lake Huron include landscaping, new benches, a drinking fountain and shower stations. A ribbon-cutting took place Thursday and Mayor Pauline Repp says there’s more work to be done to improve the park. Construction started last fall. Officials say there’s a $2.5 million wish list that includes new walkways and a resurfaced parking lot. The splash pad features structures that pay homage to Port Huron and local sites, such as a lighthouse and the Blue Water Bridge that connects the U.S. and Canada.
