(PORT HURON) — Construction of a $9.8 million Blue Water Area Transit bus hub in Port Huron is nearing completion. Reports say the date is now set for July 8 after a planned completion last year was pushed back due the need for bigger-than-expected utility infrastructure work. Road work is expected to take place this week. Detroit-based DTE Energy Co. said it moved to complete infrastructure work during construction so that it wouldn’t have to rip up new pavement later. Work first began for the new bus hub in 2015. It had a grand opening in December. The bus hub connects riders to seven fixed-route buses that travel throughout Port Huron and area townships, as well as local and express commuter routes to northern Macomb County.
