(SANILAC COUNTY) — The warm weather and increased traffic over the Memorial Day weekend kept Sanilac County Sheriff’s deputies busy. Sheriff Garry Biniecki reports that Central Dispatch received 689 calls for service. Deputies handled 118 complaints, made 20 arrests, performed 165 traffic stops, and issued 14 citations. Correction deputies lodged 12 people in the jail stemming from arrests by deputies and other police agencies in the county. The Sheriff’s Marine Division was on the water over the holiday weekend in Lake Huron waterways in both the Port Sanilac and Lexington Harbors. They conducted marine patrols, attended the Port Sanilac Blessing of the Fleet Ceremony and responded to five boater assist calls. No water related injuries were reported and no violations or citations were issued.
