(AREA) — It’s tradition at United Hospice Service of Marlette Regional Hospital that when a patient is provided care through hospice home care or at the Hospice Residence, that patient is gifted a special, hand-crafted quilt. These quilts provide a little extra comfort and warmth to patients in their time of need, and are later passed on to provide peace and comfort to the grieving family. Quilting for this particular cause, a group of women from Huron, Sanilac, and Tuscola counties—Charlie’s Angels Quilting Group, recently made a donation of hand-made quilts to UHS. Every quilt donated by this group has been unique in both color and pattern, and each is labeled, “May this blanket bring you peace and comfort.” Brenda Miller of Bad Axe organized this quilting group in 2010 after her brother, Charlie, passed away in the Hospice Residence located in Marlette. She and her family were touched to receive her brother’s quilt, and she became motivated to help support and provide to this cause. United Hospice Service serves Sanilac, Huron, St. Clair, Lapeer, and Tuscola counties.
