(AREA) — During the Month of May, the Sanilac County Drug Task Force held D.A.R.E. Graduations for 5th and 6th grade students in Sanilac County. The 17-week course focuses on recognizing and resisting social pressures to experiment with illegal or addictive substances and also helps develop interest in positive alternative activities, skills in risk assessment and decision making and self esteem. Students from Peck, CPS, Brown City, Deckerville, Sandusky, and Marlette received their certificate of completion and a D.A.R.E. t-shirt. Croswell-Lexington Schools held their graduation last December. The five Marlette 5th grade students that won the D.A.R.E. Essay Contest were Timothy Anthony, Mckenna Crase, Elizabeth Gierman, Manus Bennett, and Kaitlyn Miller.
