High-performance transmission maker plans Michigan facility

WIXOM, Mich. (AP) – A manufacturer of high-performance vehicle transmissions plans to invest $54 million to establish a new facility in the Detroit suburb of Wixom. The Michigan Economic Development Corp. announced Thursday that TREMEC Corp.’s project is getting support from the Michigan Strategic Fund and could create more than 130 jobs. TREMEC plans to lease a new building to house several existing and new portions of its business, including a global business development headquarters, technical support center, aftermarket unit and a new advanced automotive transmission production operation. TREMEC is getting a $731,500 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant to support its investment in the state.
