Michigan high school getting new gym floor after selling ads

(PORT HURON) — A Michigan high school that sold ads to be displayed on its new gym floor is moving forward on the project to replace the old floor. Construction began last month. Fundraising efforts were announced in 2015 and coincided with the celebration of the school’s 50th year. Corporate sponsorship helped the school make its $120,000 “Fund Our Floor” goal, with spots planned for business logos or memorials on the floor. Each sponsor contributed $10,000. The campaign’s initial goal to raise $120,000 was met earlier this year and an additional $20,000 was raised after the cost of the project increased. The construction project is expected to wrap up this summer. The old gym floor was installed when the school was first built in 1965.
