(PORT HURON) — The 92nd running of the Bell’s Beer Bayview Port Huron-to-Mackinac Sailboat Race is happening this Saturday, July 16 with almost 230 boats registered in the annual race. The first wave of sailboats will head north at 11:30 a.m. just north of the Blue Water Bridge. There are two courses again this year. The 204 nautical mile Shore Course runs along the eastern shore of Michigan and the 259 nautical mile Cove Island Course takes the sailboats east to a buoy off Cove Island in northeast Lake Huron before a left turn takes sailors west to Mackinac Island. The Bayview Yacht Club in Detroit organizes the race.The Blue Water Festival kicks off the boat week festivities in Port Huron with live music, a carnival, a lighted boat parade and fireworks.
