Flint area getting new bike-sharing program involving parks

FLINT, Mich. (AP) – The Flint area is getting a new bike-sharing program. The partnership for “Flint Bike Share” involves Genesee County Parks, the Flint River Corridor Alliance, downtown partners and Zagster, a bike sharing company that’s developed similar programs for other communities. Genesee County Parks plans to debut a station Thursday at the Genesee County Parks Administration offices in Flint. Under plans for the program, rides for members – who must be 18 or older – are free for the first half-hour and then $2 per hour afterward. The new station offers access to Bluegill Boat Launch Trail, which travels southwest to Stepping Stone Falls. It’s part of the Iron Belle Trail system, which will connect the Detroit River island park of Belle isle to Ironwood in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
