(MARLETTE) — The Marlette Dog Days of Summer is going on Thursday through Sunday this week with something for everyone in the family. Kicking off festivities on Thursday is the community garage sales and the First United Methodist Church will be hosting a Dog Days picnic and casual worship service on the lawn. There will be carnival rides at the park and free swimming at the Marlette Community Pool Friday and Saturday, courtesy of Marlette Regional Hospital and Liebler Agency, Inc. Friday check out the vendor show and Mom-to-Mom sale at the high school from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., kids games and face painting, live music downtown, and a mechanical bull riding contest during the car show. After the car show, the car cruise will roll down Main Street. There will be a Glow in the Dark teen dance Friday from 8-11 p.m. at the Marlette Elementary School. It’s open to all school districts for students age 13 to 19 with a valid student ID. Admission is $5. The Marlette Area Players will be performing “Shakespeare Goes to Gravel Gulch” at 6 p.m. at the high school on both Friday and Saturday with a matinee scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday. On Saturday, a 5K race and softball tournament kicks off at 8 a.m. followed by the grand parade at 11 a.m. Pedal pulls, dancing, horseshoe tournaments, mini pony rides, and live music will fill the park Saturday afternoon. Fireworks will go off at dusk. Sunday there’s a community church service at 11 a.m.
