(ATTICA TOWNSHIP) — Authorities say an 81-year-old Lapeer County man was pinned beneath the roof of his home after a tree fell during a storm. Sheriff’s officials say they responded to a 911 call Wednesday evening and found the man in the Attica Township cottage on Pantek Park Drive. Police say the man, Thomas Malma, required medical attention, but his injuries aren’t considered life-threatening. His wife Frances was also inside the cottage, but she was not injured. Police say the tree, which they believe fell because of severe weather conditions, caused extensive damage to the house. The National Weather Service reported heavy rain and sustained winds of 24 mph, with gusts above 30 mph in the Lapeer area at the time of the incident.
