(CUSTER TOWNSHIP) — Sanilac County Sheriff deputies were sent to the scene of a single vehicle rollover crash early Wednesday afternoon on Banner Road just south of Eddy Road in Custer Township. 31-year-old Christopher Smith of Deckerville told deputies he was braking to avoid a deer when he lost control of his vehicle, entered the ditch and rolled over. Smith called Dispatch to report the accident and that he was alone in the car and not injured. He also told police that there was smoke coming from the vehicle. When deputies arrived the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames. The Sandusky Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.
