Local Organizations Prepare for Emergency Situations

(SANDUSKY) — Members from the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Department, Sandusky Police, McKenzie Health System, and the Sanilac County Medical Care Facility joined Sanilac County Emergency Manager Todd Hillman for a “table top drill” outlining steps that should be taken in the event of an active shooter. Around 90 people took part in the discussion at the Sanilac Medical Care Facility with Regional Assistant Coordinator with the Region 3 Healthcare Coalition, Jennifer Stefaniak. The hospital, medical care facility, and other local community organizations have already participated in staff training based on “Run, Hide, Fight”. The next step is to “practice” for an event by doing mock drills or exercises. A full scale active shooter/violent intruder mock drill is planned in August at McKenzie Health System and the Sanilac Medical Care Facility.
