(MELVIN) — The Thumb’s largest motorcycle run is expected to draw hundreds of riders, as the rumble of motorcycles echo throughout the communities of Melvin and Marlette on Saturday, August 13 for the 11th annual Hog Town Run. The event is sponsored by Hog Town Inc. of Melvin and supports United Hospice Service of Marlette Regional Hospital. Last year’s group of riders celebrated a “Decade of Giving,” charting over $145,000 in donations to-date. The funds financially assist terminally-ill hospice patients and their families residing throughout the Thumb Region. Registration on Saturday, August 13 will start at 9 a.m. at the Melvin Tavern. Following the veterans memorial, riders will line up and depart at Noon. A blessing of the bikes will take place at the Hospice Residence, located at Marlette Regional Hospital. The registration fee is a $20 donation per person, which includes a $5 raffle ticket. Evening activities will include a pig roast, bike games, burnouts, live entertainment, and raffles. Rustic camping is also available for a donation.
