(OTTER LAKE) — An Otter Lake woman remains jailed without bond after stabbing her son to death last Friday morning inside their Briggs Road home. Lapeer County Sheriff’s deputies say 59-year old Tamara Leonard was arraigned on a charge of open murder last week. She is accused of stabbing her son, 24-year old Theron Leonard, to death. Authorities say Leonard was the care giver of Theron, who suffered from cerebral palsy. Leonard called 9-1-1 stating that she had stabbed herself and another person in the home. She was treated at McLaren-Lapeer Regional Hospital for non-life threatening injuries and Theron was pronounced dead. Deputies say there is no evidence suggesting that the stabbing was the result of an altercation and the case remains under investigation.
