SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — Alberto Mineo hit a run-scoring single in the first inning, leading the South Bend Cubs to a 4-1 win over the Great Lakes Loons on Tuesday. The Cubs swept the four-game series with the win. Jared Cheek got Omar Estevez to fly out with runners on first and second to end the game for his second save of the season. The single by Mineo, part of a three-run inning, gave the Cubs a 1-0 lead before Tyler Alamo hit a two-run single later in the inning. The Loons cut into the deficit in the fourth inning when Luke Raley hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Brendon Davis. The Cubs tacked on another run in the fourth when Alamo hit an RBI single, driving in Vimael Machin. South Bend southpaw Ryan Kellogg (6-7) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing one run on five hits over seven innings. Opposing starter Imani Abdullah (2-4) took the loss in the Midwest League game after giving up four runs and nine hits over five innings. Raley doubled and singled twice for the Loons.
