Port Huron and St. Clair County public safety and hospital teams to conduct emergency drill on August 16

(PORT HURON) — Emergency responders will join McLaren Port Huron Hospital on Tuesday, August 16 to hold a mass casualty disaster drill in the parking lot of the former Sears store at Birchwood Mall in Fort Gratiot. The drill is set to simulate an emergency situation where there would be many injuries, enabling local emergency response teams to practice and be prepared in the case of an actual incident. The emergency drill will begin around 7 a.m. There will be 26 volunteers portraying victims of a bombing. Throughout the morning, emergency response teams will be arriving and leaving Birchwood Mall and ambulances will be bringing “the injured actors” to the Emergency Center at McLaren Port Huron. Organizations participating in the drill include TRI-Hospital EMS, Croswell EMS, Richmond-Lenox EMS, Fort Gratiot Fire Department, Burtchville Fire Department, the St. Clair County Sheriff Department, St. Clair County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, and McLaren Port Huron Hospital.
