Sanilac County 4-H Fair brings family fun to Sandusky August 21-August 27

(SANDUSKY) — This year’s Sanilac County 4-H Fair in Sandusky will take place from Sunday, August 21 through Saturday, August 27.
Big Rock Amusements Midway will open at 5 p.m. on Monday, August 22. Additional attractions on the grounds this year include “The Michigan Stiltwalker” and “Nergers Tiger Show.” Look for them performing around the fairgrounds and at their stage show daily. 4-H animal judging will take place all week including guinea pigs, rabbits and chickens, goats, sheep, pigs, cattle and horses. Other 4-H exhibits feature arts and crafts, photography, and wood-working to name a few.
Kicking off the Grandstand events for the week will be the Tractor and Pickup Pulls at 7 p.m. on Monday.
Tuesday, August 23, is “Homemaker Day” at the fair with the presentation of Sanilac County Homemaker of the Year at 6:45 p.m. at the Grandstand. Following that presentation is a Monster Truck Show at 7 p.m.
Tuesday and Wednesday are Senior Citizen’s Veteran’s Days, with $7 admission before 3 p.m. Everyone is allowed to leave and come back later that day by getting their hand stamped by the Gate Admission Attendant.
Wednesday night at the Grandstand it’s the Bump N’ Run starting at 7 p.m.
Thursday, August 25, is Kids’ Day from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Gate admission for children ages 6 during that time is $5. The Pedal Tractor Pulls for ages 4-12 starts at 2 p.m. with registration at 1 p.m. There is a $1.00 entry fee. Back for 2016 is the Dog Agility show on Thursday at Noon. Wrapping up Thursday will be a new style of the popular Figure 8 Derby taking place in front of the Grandstand.
Friday, August 26, brings the Small Animal Silent Auction in the Poultry Barn from Noon-6:30 p.m. and the 4-H and FFA Small Animal and Livestock Sale in the Livestock Arena beginning at 9:30 a.m. Back by popular demand Friday night is the Super Kicker Rodeo at 7 p.m.
To wind up the 4-H Fair on Saturday, August 27, it’s all-day fun for the entire family with an Open Class Horse Show beginning at 8 a.m., the Small and Large Animal Sweepstakes at 10 a.m., and the Talent Contest at the Grandstand at 10 a.m. The roar of the Demolition Derby and Combine Derby competition starts at 7 p.m. Country music star Dewayne Spaw, is back again this year, performing during intermission of Friday’s Super Kicker Rodeo and Saturday’s Demolition Derby.
The Sanilac County 4-H Fair is a pay-one-price fair. The pay-one-price of $15 per person includes entrance into the fairgrounds, parking, rides, the exhibits and grandstand entertainment. There are no refunds and no rain checks. Admission will be charged on Monday beginning at 11 a.m. and Tuesday through Saturday starting at 8 a.m. MEGA passes, which provide admission all week to the 4-H Fair and include rides, are on sale now at a cost of $55 each at the Fair office at 171 Dawson Street, Suite 323 in Sandusky. The Mega passes are available until Noon on Sunday, August 21 or until they are sold out.
