(CROSWELL) — The Croswell Fire Department has been awarded a grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The $22,089 grant will be used to help with operations and safety. Croswell Fire Chief Steve Bales says the department will purchase a backpack air apparatus and cribbing, which will allow firefighters to safely stabilize a vehicle at an the scene of an accident to prevent it from overturning. Congresswoman Candice Miller applauds the funding noting that budgetary restrictions make it increasingly difficult for our first responders to purchase and update the equipment they need to safely do their jobs. The DHS Assistance to Firefighters Grant program helps provide critical funding so that the local department can continue to provide life-saving, emergency services their communities rely on.
