5-year-old Port Huron boy found safe after death of mother

(AREA) — Police say a 5-year-old boy who was reported missing after his mother was found dead in a Port Huron home has been found safe. Port Huron police say they found the boy with his 39-year old father about 8:30 a.m. Sunday at a mobile home park in Orion Township in Oakland County. Police Lt. Joel Wood says the father, Douglas Ball, was taken into custody and was being questioned. Police identified the dead mother as 30-year-old Lydia Rose Ball. Port Huron Public Safety Director Michael Reaves said her death is being investigated as a homicide. An autopsy is planned. Police say Ball’s body was discovered by her parents on Saturday afternoon in the 1200 block of Rawlins Street.
