(MARLETTE) — A group of lovely ladies, identity unknown, carefully pieced a number of colorful quilt tops together. These quilt tops eventually found their way to Heaven Sent Ministries in Marlette. Gina Titus, the Director of Heaven Sent Ministries, asked if Helping Hands would be willing to use their skills to take these quilt tops and move them along in the process so they could be finished and donated to the Long Term Care Unit at Marlette Regional Hospital for the residents. They were more than willing, but In order for this to be done, funds were needed to purchase fleece to be used for the filler and the backing. Helping Hands in turn requested and was awarded a grant from Woman’s Life, Chapter 871 that was sufficient to purchase the items needed to complete the quilts. Helping Hands met every Tuesday morning at First United Methodist Church from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and after many days and many hours of assembly and loving care, 35 beautiful hand crafted quilts were completed. To add to the significance of the project, these quilts were presented during morning service at First United Methodist Church and the congregation joined in a prayer of blessing over the quilts and for the individuals who would receive them. On August 9, the quilts came to the end of their journey and were presented to the Long Term Care Unit at Marlette Regional Hospital. These soft, cuddly quilts will be enjoyed by the current and future residents of the Long Term Care Unit.
