SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — Will Allen hit an RBI single in the seventh inning, and Jose Azocar had four hits as the West Michigan Whitecaps topped the South Bend Cubs 6-5 on Tuesday. The single by Allen, part of a two-run inning, tied the game 5-5 before Cam Gibson hit an RBI single later in the inning. Zac Houston (1-0) got the win with 1 2/3 innings of scoreless, one-hit relief while Carson Sands (7-4) took the loss in the Midwest League game. Mark Ecker pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings for his third save of the season. Adonis Paula doubled and singled, driving home two runs for the Cubs.
