DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Zack Shields tripled and singled, and Ty Boyles allowed just five hits over seven innings as the Dayton Dragons beat the Lansing Lugnuts 5-3 on Tuesday. Lansing had runners on first and second in the top of the ninth, but Andrew Guillotte flew out to end the game. Boyles (6-8) allowed one run while striking out seven and walking one to get the win. Dayton got on the board first with a run in the third inning. After hitting a single, Mitch Piatnik scored on a triple by Shields. Trailing 5-1, the Lugnuts cut into the deficit in the ninth inning when Juan Tejada and Connor Panas hit RBI singles. Justin Maese (1-3) went five innings, allowing one run and five hits in the Midwest League game. He also struck out four and walked three.
