(BURTCHVILLE TOWNSHIP) — St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon says a car/deer collision in Burtchville Township Sunday night sent two people to the hospital. The crash took place just before 10 p.m. when a vehicle traveling north on M-25 near Harris Road struck the deer in the roadway. The driver was 73-year old Joan Roelandt of Lexington. Deputies say the animal went airborne and crashed through the windshield of the car on the passenger side, striking 29-year old Danielle Roelandt, also of Lexington. Both women were transported to McLaren Port Huron Hospital by ambulance for treatment of their injuries. Deputies say the passenger’s injuries were more severe. Their conditions are unknown. Burtchville Township Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.
